Janice Pieroni’s entertainment experience includes working as an executive at Universal Studios, as a co-writer for Universal Studios and its affiliates, and as an assistant to Martin Scorsese. She is a member of Writers Guild of America and Massachusetts Production Coalition.
Through Story Arts Management® (www.storyartsmanagement.com), which Janice founded, she has worked with a national clientele of individuals, businesses, and organizations to develop film, television, and book projects—placing approximately 25 client fiction or non-fiction book projects with publishers such as Simon & Schuster, W.W. Norton, Wiley, and others, and guiding numerous client screenplays into development with LA producers.
A Senior Affiliated Faculty Member at Emerson College, Janice teaches screenwriting, writing television pilots, and writing for television. She also has taught screenwriting and the business of screenwriting in Emerson’s Screenwriting Certificate Program and screenwriting in Emerson’s Pre-College Program.
In addition, Janice serves on the Adjunct Faculty of Boston University, where she teaches screenwriting and television writing.
Janice has spoken at educational institutions such as Harvard University, Boston University, University of Massachusetts, Emerson College, and Amherst College, as well as at writers’ conferences, professional organizations, and continuing education venues.
She has produced or assisted with producing presentations by industry leaders, including by Pulitzer Prize, Academy Award, and Emmy-winners. She has moderated or participated in industry panels, served as a judge for screenwriting or film competitions, and written articles about the industry.
Her professional experience includes working as an associate in the LA home office of international firm Paul, Hastings, as a story analyst for the producers of an Academy Award-Winning feature, as an assistant at WNET, New York’s public broadcasting station, and as a production assistant on a Warner Bros. feature and on several PBS-funded projects.
Janice earned an undergraduate degree from Amherst College and a graduate degree from University of California at Berkeley. She also studied film in the School of the Arts, Graduate Division, at Columbia University.
