Nancy J. Allen, MPH has over 20 years of experience in the fields of communication and public health. Ms. Allen has developed social marketing campaigns and health promotion materials on a number of public health topics including tobacco, substance abuse, injury and violence prevention, obesity prevention, teen health, and sexual health. Prior to that, Ms. Allen oversaw development of training curriculum on topics such as HIV, hepatitis, STDs and LGBT health for HIV/AIDS providers.
She has presented at several national conferences including the American Public Health Association (APHA), CDC's Health Communication, Marketing and Media, and Sex:Tech. Ms. Allen has run her own independent consultancy since 2010, working primarily with non-profit organizations and city and state entities to conduct qualitative research with at-risk populations. Her research has focused primarily on the opioid epidemic, substance use, harm reduction, and sexual health.
She teaches courses on infectious diseases, sexual health, disability, and the War on Drugs.
