Overview
The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Emerson College, Dr. Alexandra Socarides, provides strategic vision, leadership, and support for all aspects of the academic enterprise: academic planning, program development at the undergraduate and graduate levels, assessment, advancement of faculty research and creative work, excellence in teaching, and global engagement initiatives. As such, the Provost ensures the academic rigor of the learning experiences at Emerson. The Provost is also responsible for advocating for and supporting faculty, including hiring, development, and promotion.
The principal areas of her responsibilities are:
- The academic programs, budget, space, and leadership in the College’s three schools: School of the Arts, School of Communication, the Marlboro Institute for Liberal Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies
- Graduate Studies
- Professional Studies, including Graduate Certificates and Non-Credit Programs
- The Office of Internationalization and Equity, including Education Abroad and Domestic Programs, International Student and Scholar Affairs, and Internationalization Initiatives
- The Iwasaki Library
- The Office of Research and Creative Scholarship
