Move-In and Out
Move-In
Move-in on campus is an exciting, vibrant, and well-orchestrated event for the Emerson community! We do everything we can to make it an easy and smooth transition to campus, whether you are a first-time student or returning “home” for the academic year. For fall move-in, students are assigned a specific time that correlates to their housing assignment. First Year students all move-in during one day and returning students move-in over a series of two days. For general move-in dates, it is best to refer to the academic calendar. Students are able to find a detailed move-in schedule in their housing portal. We do ask that to minimize lines and facilitate a smooth check-in, please plan your arrival according to the times assigned. At the same time, due to the number of students scheduled to move into the residence halls, you should be prepared for some delays at check-in. We understand that some may have conflicts with the schedule that your student will see posted, but we ask that you adhere to your assigned times to the best of your ability. If a student has extenuating circumstances that will prevent them from arriving at their assigned time, they may request to arrive at a different time via their housing portal. This form is opened once assignments are live for all students mid-summer. Requests will be granted based on staff availability at the time you are requesting.
Move Out
The move out process, similar to move-in, is a well-organized process. Students must vacate the halls no later than the posted move-out date in time according to the academic calendar. Since every student’s travel plans and moving/storage plans are different, there are no set times during the day to move out of the halls. There are specific instructions that a student must follow to complete this process successfully, including fully emptying their room and having it in broom swept condition, turning in any and all keys via the express check out box in each residence hall lobby.
