Timesheets

To fill out a timesheet:

  1. Log into Workday and click the Time application.
  2. Select This Week
  3. Select a day and enter the total number of hours worked. You may have multiple jobs and will need to select the appropriate job from the drop down.
  4. Once all hours have been reported for the week, click Submit.

Additional instructions regarding the submission of your timesheet can be found via Human Resources.

Timesheets can be accessed through Workday at the beginning of every pay period and are due every Monday by 12:00 p.m. EST. Your supervisor might give you an earlier deadline for your timesheet.

If you do not submit hours by the deadline, the hours will not come into Payroll and payment will be delayed. Adjustments can be made to time sheets on Wednesdays after 3 pm EST. It will be processed in the next scheduled payroll as a retroactive payment.

Payment

Student employees are paid at an hourly wage. Pay rates will vary depending on the level of experience, and the responsibilities for each position, but will always adhere to the state minimum wage. Please note that students conducting specialized research or highly-skilled work are typically paid at a higher rate.

If you have been awarded Federal Work-Study, which is a finite amount, your pay rate determines the number of hours that you are able to work.

Student Employees are paid for hours worked, not hours scheduled. Days missed due to illness, weather, or holidays are not to be counted as hours worked. It is Massachusetts state law that all employees who work more than 6 hours are required to take an unpaid 30-minute break. Students may not waive their right for this break.

As per Massachusetts State Law, most people who work are considered employees and must be paid at minimum wage or higher for all the time that they work. Students must be paid for all hours worked at the college. Please student_employment [at] emerson.edu (email any concerns or questions) to the Office of Student Employment.

If a paycheck/direct deposit is not delivered, please email mailtpayroll [at] emerson.edu (the Payroll office).
